BRITISH ONLINE ARCHIVES
British Online Archives is one of the United Kingdom’s leading academic publishers. Their goal is to provide university students and researchers around the world with access to unique collections of primary source documents in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
To this end, their platform hosts over 3 million records drawn from renowned private and public archives. These records are organised thematically, covering 1,000 years of world history, from politics and warfare to slavery and medicine. Though the sources are usually British in origin, the collections are international in scope.
British Online Archives is the digital arm of Microform Imaging Ltd, who have been a leader in the preservation of Britain’s archival and cultural heritage in microform and digital formats for more than sixty years.
PRIMARY SOURCE COLLECTIONS
British Online Archives provides unique collections of primary source documents for university students and researchers of the Humanities and Social Sciences. Their vast range of primary source collections is sourced from the finest libraries and archive holdings in the UK, such as the British National Archives, the British Library, the Bodleian Library, the BBC, the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office, the Imperial War Museum, the London School of Economics and Political Science, the National Library of Scotland, the National Library of Wales, and many more. Though the sources are usually British in origin, the collections are international in scope.
